First copy of the forthcoming Tennessee Ernie Ford box set from Bear Family has just arrived, and it looks like this:

Later this year there will be a 40th Anniversary box (incl. a massive book, a DVD, and three CDs with exclusive Bear songs – among them one by Ry Cooder, singing “I’d like to be on Bear Family when I die…”, plus the long-awaited Jerry Lee Lewis set (17 CDs!). File alongside the Chuck Berry box.

Currently in production (and expected in June) is another long-awaited box – the second volume in BE! Record‘s series of ‘Oddball Labels’ collections. Like The Texas Box it’s a 10 CD box, accompanied by a 208-page coffee-table book, featuring rare singles from Michigan, not surprisingly titled “The Michigan Box”. Here are sample pages from the book:

We’ve been busy the last couple of months with the “Complete Chuck Berry” box; this is now being manufactured and will be released in October. More details to follow soon… and here’s a pack shot:

Cover illustrations were created by Reinhard Kleist, who (you may remember) also did a series of beautiful drawings for Bear Family’s Hank Snow CDs.

We also finished two books for a November release – it’s the return of Bear Family Books!
